1. First you will need to install the app using the instructions below. If this is already installed on your device you can skip to step 2.

To install the Microsoft Authenticator app on your mobile device you can use the QR codes below. Alternatively, you can go to the App Store on iOS or Play Store on Android and search for Microsoft Authenticator.

 2. Once the Authenticator app is installed, select the option to add a work or school account then select the option to scan a QR code on the mobile app.

On your SmithBucklin laptop go to https://aka.ms/mfasetup using Chrome or Edge.

If you aren’t already logged into Microsoft you’ll be prompted to log in. Use your @smithbucklin.com email address (YourUsername@smithbucklin.com) as your login and then enter the temporary access when that was sent to you from helpdesk.

If when logging in it prompts you to authenticate and you do not have access to approve on your old phone, choose the option "I can't use my Microsoft Authenticator app right now", then choose the option to enter your temporary access pass. If you don't see this prompt you can skip to step 3.

3. After logging in you should be at the screen below. Choose "Add sign-in method" as highlighted below, then select "Authenticator app" from the dropdown and hit the add button.

It will prompt you to install the app which we've already done, so you can hit next. Hit next again to start your account setup.

After you've hit next it should show you a QR code. Open the authenticator app on your phone, choose add account, then choose work or school account and tap on Scan a QR code. You can now scan the QR code that appears on your screen.

Your account should be added to the authenticator app afterwards, and you can hit next to verify.
