Using multiple displays connected to your laptop can be used in a variety of fashions. Please use this as a guideline to changing your display settings. To get to the display settings, press the windows button in the bottom left corner of your screen, type 'Rearrange multiple displays', hit enter.


Display Orientation

  1. Changes how your mouse moves from display to display.
  2. Can be adjusted in any height or order.
  3. Click on a box and drag to adjust.
  4. Click 'Identity' to identify which display is which.


Extend/Duplicate

  1. When using an external monitor, you have the option to duplicate or extend your main screen. 
    1. Duplicate
      1. Have the same image and function on both monitors.
    2. Extend
      1. Increase the amount of individual screens.
      2. Can drag windows from display to display. 


Main Display

  1. Your main display houses your action bar and other task bar feature.
  2. Some newly opened windows may open on this screen first.
  3. Click the 'Multiple displays' drop down, click the monitor you would like to make your main monitor, click 'Make this my main display'.


Use Multiple Displays with Laptop Lid Closed.


  1. Press the Windows button on your keyboard, type 'Control Panel', and hit enter.
  2. In the top right corner, sort by 'small icons'
  3. Select 'Power Plan'.
  4. In the left banner, select 'Choose what closing the lid does.'
  5. Under the Plugged in section, for 'When I close the lid', select 'Do Nothing', and then 'Save Changes'.
